From income inequality to social inequity: impact on health levels in an international efficiency comparison panel

Abstract Background Health equity, although addressed in several publications dealing with health efficiency analysis, is not easily translated into the operationalization of variables, mainly due to technical difficulties. Some studies provide evidence that it does influence outcomes; others demonstrate its effect an indirect one, hegemony material living conditions over social connotation. The aim this article evaluate role equity determining outcomes, international comparative analysis effectiveness and systems. Method Fixed Effects Model Panel Data Envelopment Analysis, a dynamic network model, addition between methods impacts. variables considered study were life expectancy at birth infant mortality, 2010 2015, according sociocultural regions selected countries. Inequity was assessed both economically socially. following dimensions considered: physical financial resources, production (access, coverage prevention) intersectoral variables: demographic, socioeconomic, governance risks. Results Both demonstrated countries higher inequity levels (regarding income, education dimensions), associated or poverty, are least efficient, reaching potential for effective outcomes. outcome exhibited, final per capita expenditure. mortality comprehended level variable, association healthcare variabels: care seeking diarrhea children under five, births attended by skilled professionals reduction incidence HIV. Conclusion dissociation distribution outcomes overall population characterizes devastating political choice society, as high segregation, disrespect violence from within.
